‘raison d’etre’ is inspired by the simplest things in nature, extracting them from its original context and translated into a mood of being, it is all about ‘us’, people, being human. These days, nostalgia is a word we often hear about, and it is that feeling that I wanted to capture on my work. That nostalgia for things in life that are simple but thoughtful, pure yet intriguing. It is about the journey to find the balance.
This collection is constructed by juxtaposing different types of materials and colour, blending them to create one piece, which is functional and intends to inspire the wearer with a mood of their own. Is has been composed by different ‘separates’ pieces to be more versatile and become part of the wearers identity.
The materials used on this collection are based on organic cottons, mixed with silks such as satins and gazaar, fine wool crepe, silk jerseys and hand-appliques of satin ribbons to create a print effect on transparencies.
